In 2020, our community passed a Parcel Tax to fund 24 teacher positions and academic programs. Today, due to cost of living impacts, our same tax funds only 18 teachers. When Measure N expires in 2028, $3 million will disappear, leaving the San Carlos School District with no choice but to cut teaching positions and reduce critical programs. But we have a choice: Together, we can protect our schools, and our property values, by renewing our parcel tax this November!
When our schools are strong, San Carlos is strong. We know that people choose to move to San Carlos because of our strong schools. Thanks to our exceptional teachers, all San Carlos schools are California Distinguished schools. However, they are at risk. The cost of paying teachers and staff make up 85% of the budget. The state only funds 10% of our District budget. 90% of our budget comes from our local community--property taxes, Measure N, and donations. The Parcel Tax is designed to fund the positions for 24 teachers and maintain high-quality programs.
Supporting Renewal means we can:
A vote for Yes means we can offer adequate teacher salaries, avoid losing teachers to other districts, and prevent teacher layoffs. That’s why residents, parents, teachers, business and civic leaders from every neighborhood SUPPORT Strong San Carlos Schools on the November Ballot.
Strong Schools ♥ Strong San Carlos. VOTE YES for Strong San Carlos Schools.
We use donations to fund flyers, direct mail, postcards and yard signs to create awareness. To win, we need two-thirds votes - this is a high bar.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.
